SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY is January 18, 2009

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is a day when Christians around the world reflect on the sacredness of all human life created by God.

The Bible tells us that human life is sacred because God created us in His image and gave us the unique capacity to know Him, and become His child through faith in Jesus Christ. This means that every person has value, whether they are planned or unplanned at conception.

Unfortunately, our culture does not always recognize the value of human life as evidenced by the fact that over one million unborn babies are aborted every year in the United States.

Care Net Pregnancy Center of CNY offers loving alternatives to abortion and Care Net staff and volunteer counselors help women change their minds about abortion and choose life for their unborn babies. They do this with the love of Jesus Christ and with respect for both the child and the mother.

All of Care Net’s services are free of charge:
• Pregnancy tests with confirmation through ultrasound
• Options counseling
• Abstinence education seminars in public schools
• Abortion recovery help for those who regret past abortion decisions
• And they share the Gospel with their clients. Last year 15 people prayed to receive Christ as their Savior or recommitted their life to Christ.

The majority of Care Net’s funding is raised through people who believe in their work and want to share in what God does through their ministry.

Supporting Care Net benefits a ministry that helps women discover that there are better alternatives than abortion.

What is the Baby Bottle Campaign?  It is an opportunity for people in organizations and churches to put their pocket change into a baby bottle to help Care Net provide abortion alternatives to women and their families.  It is an important fund raiser for Care Net and everyone loves how easy it is.

Here's how it works.  Care Net provides baby bottles based on how many you need.  We recommend one per family, although some families like to have more.  These are to be picked up at the Administrative Office, 2414 Genesee Street, Utica (upstairs from 2412 Genesee).  The church or organization distributes them on Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, in January, where the Baby Bottle Campaign can be explained.  Encourage folks to take a bottle on their way out.

At home, put the baby bottle in a popular place (on a dresser, desk or kitchen counter) as a reminder to pray for the safety and salvation of mothers and their unborn children.  Drop your pocket change, currency or checks in the bottle as an offering to help Care Net continue to provide free abortion alternative services.

On the first Sunday in March collect the bottles.  It's best to make an announcement several Sundays before to remind people to bring in their bottles in.

Bring the bottles to a Care Net center near you.  We will count the money and credit it to your church.  It's a wonderful blessing to us and a relatively easy way to increase your church's mission giving.
